Grinding

Teeth grinding or clenching is a very common problem. If it happens from time to time, there is minimal harm done. But when grinding or clenching becomes a regular occurrence, it can lead to dire consequences and irreversible damage.

Causes & Symptoms

Teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, can have a variety of causes. It could involve stress, medications, sleeping problems, and even dehydration. It's hard to pinpoint exact causes but recognition of the symptoms is crucial.

Most people are unaware that they grind their teeth as it often happens while we're sleeping. You may instead experience the following:

  • Jaw soreness

  • Dull headaches

  • Tooth pain

  • Complaints from your partner!

Treatment

Untreated bruxism can lead to broken, loose, or loss of teeth. It may also affect your jaw and the surrounding muscle. Bruxism may lead to Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ). At Vogue Dental Studios, we offer two treatments for bruxism.

Grinding Splint | $590

An occlusal splint will protect your teeth during the night. A split is a custom made mouthguard that you can wear while you sleep.

Bruxism Injectables | $550 - $750

Muscle relaxants may help you stop grinding as well. Two points of injection into our masseters can effectively address this issue and solve these problems in the short term. However, alternative treatment and monitoring needs to continue into the long tern.
